Project
The depths of the sea and of deep lakes are among the most inaccessable areas of this planet. Being only a few hundred meters from our homes they require particular equipment and huge efforts to reach and study.
The DeepLakeProject was born from the curiosity and the technical interest to reach these depths and to document them. It is a private project, thus working with a small budget and little time to be invested by the team members. As the team members live on the shores of Lago Maggiore, the deepest part of the lake, at 372 m, exhibited a strong and challenging temptation. The project's aim is to photograph the abyssal depths of the lake, providing high quality photographs and potentially document wildlife in the deep. The Project started on 26.9.2015. |
Lake Maggiore has its deepest parts in the central area. The deep area extends over a wider surface, with one level at ca. 300 m depth, then the most profound down to 372 m. There appear to be no current precise soundings, so that information is to be derived from an elder navigation map and own depth measurements.
